Overview:

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Production Team Leader or a Production Operative with a heavy engineering background ready to step up into a team leading position. As a Production Team Leader for Crusher Assembly, you will be responsible for managing a team of 4-10 Production Operatives who assemble crushers for the materials processing industry. Reporting to the Production Manager you will assist in ensuring the smooth flow of production through the manufacturing line to meet on-time deliveries in the most effective manner.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading a team in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

  • Maintaining a strict high standard of Health & Safety at all times.

  • Maintaining a strict quality standard within the workshop.

  • Applying high standards of 5s with the workshop.

  • Reporting and Logging Maintenance breakdowns.

  • Achieving production Takt time targets.

  • Ensuring all recuts are kitted and delivered within the deadlines set out.

  • Workload being planned and prepared in advance.

  • Identify the needs of your team and train existing and new team members

  • Identify production concerns and communicate same to Production Supervisor

  • Productivity, pursuing continuous improvement and problem solving opportunities

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Candidates should be qualified to minimum of GCSE level or equivalent

  • Significant production experience gained in a highly pressured, heavy engineering manufacturing environment

  • Must have a good working knowledge of steel fabrication, machine parts and steel processing

  • Have an understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, QCO, 5S continuous improvement techniques

  • Good communication skills and have the ability to work in a pressurized environment,

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, hands on and be able to adapt to changing priorities and goals

  • Demonstrable ability to work on their own initiative and take responsibility for making good business decisions when required.

  • Flexible/adaptable, results focused individual with the energy, drive and commitment to make it happen

Desirable:

  • Experience in building large tracked equipment would be a distinct advantage.

  • Ideally you should have previous supervisory or people management experience

  • Computer literate and experience of Oracle/ERP systems would be advantageous
